The Secretariat has begun a preparation in Pan-Orthodox Council in Geneva
A new stage in the preparation of Pan-Orthodox Council began its work in Geneva (Chambesy). There are the representations of all Orthodox churches. Today’s meeting of the secretariat is the final before the actual Pan-Orthodox Council, which will take place in Cyprus from 16th to 27th of June this year.
Imperor is closely monitoring the situation around the preparation for this significant for the entire Christian world event – the Pan-Orthodox Council, which will take place in this format for the first time in a thousand years.
Orthodox council should develop a doctrinal rule, which will be used by all Orthodox churches in the XXI century and the next. The basic principle of the whole work of the cathedral – the strict compliance with all the canons and traditions of the Church.
“We discuss the program, the process of preparation, the composition of the dossier to inform about the work of the Council. Of course, this is an opportunity to exchange ideas about how churches in the perceived work on the preparation of the Council published its draft documents”, – said Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, a spokesman of the Russian Orthodox Church at a meeting of the Pan-Orthodox secretariat.
2016 has already became a landmark for the Christian world. For the first time in the history there was a meeting of Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis. Pan-Orthodox Council had to be held in Turkey in the residence of the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew. However, the venue moved to Cyprus for political reasons, and for reasons of the terrorist threat from radical Islamists. Pan-Orthodox Council may become a major religious event, not only for this year, but also for a century.
