In the US the bishop criticized Biden for his support of a gay marriage
Catholic University of Notre Dame, which is located in the US state of Indiana, each year presents awards to prominent Catholic figures. However, it is not so simple this year. Bishop Kevin Rhodes of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South said that former President Joseph Biden is not worthy of this prestigious award, because he supports an abortion and a gay marriage.
John Jenkins, director of the University, received a letter with such content by Kevin Rhodes. He argues that political leaders do not have the right to maintain something which goes against religion, especially the Catholic. And Biden does it open, though, and he is a very religious man. According to the bishop, it shouldn’t be like that.
According to Rhodes, he is well aware that this situation can not be compared with what contribution was made by an ex-president in the country’s development, but the church leader says that Catholics can not tolerate such recklessness.
Award of the University of Notre Dame has been awarded since 1883. It is awarded to those who made a great contribution to science, art, religion, and also in the development of mankind. Annually, it’s given a lot of famous political, scientific, religious and other leaders. This honor was awarded to such people as the US President John F. Kennedy, jazz composer Dave Brubeck, actor Martin Sinn and many others.
