King Philip and King Juan Carlos at the events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the entry of Spain into the EU
24 June at the Grand Royal Palace held official celebrations dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the accession of Spain to the European Union, which was attended by King Felipe VI, King Juan Carlos, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, former Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez, Jose Maria Aznar, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, European Parliament President Martin Schulz. Also in the Column Hall of BDK attended governors autonomy, mayors of major cities, members of the Parliament and Government of Spain. King Juan Carlos and Felipe Gonzalez, who at that time the Prime Minister of Spain, participated in the signing ceremony 30 years ago.
King Felipe in his speech said that “Unity, consensus and democracy, which with 1978 are enshrined in our Constitution, have been and continue to be key elements of our success in Europe. Europe has to be more than it has ever been, the project for citizens, in which they are directly involved.”
Celebrations culminated in the opening of a photo exhibition entitled “Spain, thirty years of integration in Europe (1985-2015)”. Those present noticed that King Philip and King Juan Carlos has never been as close as father and son.
