Medinsky said that tourism in Russia was the fastest-growing part of economy
Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky told that tourism in Russia was the fastest-growing part of the country economy. If we take into account that other sectors of economy are down, the tourism, especially during summer period, may be very profitable for Russian budget.
This news is coincided with the situation of oil and gas income fall in Russia. Also one of possible reasons of income grow from Russian tourism is situation with some resorts to be closed for Russians (Egypt) and other to be too expensive. As a result Russian resorts became more popular this year. However not all resorts. In previous article we informed that Crimean resorts lost 25% of tourist flow to compare with the last year.
Russian resorts differ by absolutely undeveloped infrastructure, bad service which doesn’t correspond to world standards price/quality. If Western Europe resorts offer high quality service for high prices, resorts of Thailand differ by low price with lack of service. In Russia lack of service is relevant with high prices for tours in Russian resorts.
We cannot expect super profits from tourism. This is capital-intensive sphere where long-term investments are compulsory to get any profit.
