Queen Sofia presides diplomat fashion show in Madrid
The association’s president, Florica Vilcu, wife of the Romanian ambassador to Spain, was responsible for presenting the event “full of color, different flavors and cultural diversity”, where more than thirty countries presented their typical dresses in line with their geographical location and traditions. Spain, the host country was represented by a Sevillano dress and a shawl from 1919.
Latin countries such as Paraguay and the Dominican Republic emphasized the simplicity and the color of the material used in their garments. The Philippines was represented by its ambassador, Carlos Salinas and his wife, who both wore traditional clothes.

The wife of the Kazakh ambassador to Spain, Erkezhan Dyussenbayev, wore a traditional dress for married woman, consisting of an inner, ivory-colored silk dress and an outer purple velvet jacket embroidered with gold and silver thread, and semi precious stones, together with an embroidered hat and metal pendant. The dress, which is used on special occasions, was worn with silver and amethyst jewelry.
The evening ended with a tasting of typical dishes from the participating countries and a farewell from the association’s president, Florica Vilcu, whose husband, the Romanian ambassador to Spain, Ion Vilcu, has received a new posting.
